Arms and Hands for Lines and Layers 1 - with Pip E-Lysaah

Format: physical workshop

Experience level: Any

Bring: Comfortable clothes, water bottle

Arms and hands give us our upper body lines, they can make us taller and longer than we are and frame our body to enhance the story we are telling. This workshop will give you some mobility moves (that's code for warm up) and then build on these to give you some fluid combos to use on stage. You don't need to be a dancer. We will look at core movements to give you that snake and fluid arm roll and hand waves. Arms and Hands are a part of Lines and Layers. If you attend this workshop you can also attend the Legs and Hips - Lines and Layers 2.

About Pip E-Lysaah

Pip E-Lysaah is an award winning burlesque dancer who has been teaching and performing for 15 years, she was the resident belly dancer with the Loons Theatre Company and a senior teacher at the School of Contemporary Belly Dance for nine years. She has mentored performers and teachers from New Zealand, United States, Japan, Sweden, Ecuador and Germany, and continue to grow and nurture performers today. She teaches belly dance three times a week and holds down a full time job, this gives her the luxury of teaching for koha, where students pay what they can afford to attend classes. These monies all then go back into training or costuming for students. Pip is a certified Integrated Dance Teacher, which is an approach utilising Yoga, Pilates, anatomy and contortion. Her passion is turning those who don’t think they can into performers. Her dance company, The Red Queens has been running for ten years and continues to focus on custom theatrical pieces.
